Beşiktaş 2 – 3 Bursaspor

Beşiktaş went down 3-2 at home to Bursaspor in their final match of the first half of the season at BJK İnönü Stadium last night.

The match was played in driving rain and extremely slippery pitch conditions that made it virtually impossible to control the ball.
Nevertheless, Bursaspor started strongly and set the early pace with explosive attacks launched by Ozan İpek from the right and Volkan Şen from the left. The visitors’ persistence paid off after 20 minutes when Ozan İpek put them ahead with diving header off Volkan Şen’s cross. The goal served to spur the Eagles into action as they pushed forward in search of a quick equaliser. But the dogged Bursaspor defence held firm and kept them at bay. Soon after young keeper Korcan Çelikay replaced injured Rüştü Reçber, the first half ended 1-0 to Bursaspor.
The Nihat -Nobre substitution at start of the second half had an immediate impact on the game, as Nobre headed home Ekrem’s cross on 57 minutes and brought the sides back on level terms. Spurred on by the equaliser, Beşiktaş upped the pressure in search of second one and won a penalty after İbrahim Toroman was brought down in the box by Zapotocny five minutes later. While Bursaspor keeper Ivankov’s went to his left, Bobo smacked the ball into the opposite corner to make it 2-1 for the Black and White. Relying solely on long balls, Bursaspor Manager Ertuğrul Sağlam sent everyone forward including central defenders Ömer Erdoğan and Zapotocny to draw level once again. The gamble yielded a stellar payout four minutes from time when Ömer headed the ball to Ergic who slotted it into Beşiktaş’s net and leveled the score at 2-2.  While the Eagles were still reeling from the shock of the late goal, Zapotocny headed home another in injury time as Beşiktaş went down 3-2 to Bursaspor in their final match before the winter break.
