Diyarbakırspor held Beşiktaş to a goalless draw at İnönü Stadium on Day 15 of the Turkcell Super League.
A one-minute silence was observed before the kick-off in memory of the sports journalist Abdülkadir Yücelman, who passed away midweek.Roared on by a full-house at Inönü, the Black Eagles started brightly and soaked up the early pressure with swift attacks down both flanks. They almost grabbed the lead in the opening minutes, but Nobre wasted a couple of glorious chances to put his side ahead. As the match rolled on, the visitors hammered away at Beşiktaş’s back-door with Ayman, Tazemeta and Job but could not break a determined defence led by Sivok and Ferrari. The closing minutes of the first half saw the Black and White regain control and exert plenty of pressure on Diyarbakırspor defence but not finding the net, as the teams went into the dressing room with no goals to show for their efforts.
While the Eagles substituted Tabata for Yusuf to start the second 45 minutes, Diyarbakırsor brought on Erhan and Mendoza for Abdullah and Job and looked more organized than they did in the previous half. Nevertheless, Beşiktaş would soon found their feet again and put the visitors’ goal under relentless pressure with successive attacks and corners from both sides but just could not beat the keeper Gökhan, who managed to keep the Black and White at bay with a string of spectacular saves. Fink and Bobo came on for Nihat and Ekrem Dağ after 72 minutes to strengthen the Eagles’ front line. Although Bobo almost fired his team in front with a couple of close calls, Diyarbakırspor held strong for the remainder of the match to salvage a valuable point at İnönü.
