After the Black and White’s 3-0 win against Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş Manager Mustafa Denizli reflected on his team’s performance:

“We had to win this match at all costs. If we played a smart and controlled match and ran more than they did, we knew we could do it. The league leaders Fenerbahçe is normally a difficult side to beat, but they have weak points like anyone else, and tonight we’ve managed to take advantage of them—especially after they concede the first goal. As you all know, we had not made a good start into the season and fell behind unexpectedly in the standings. We needed this win to stay close to the top and gain back our self-confidence.

I praise my players for the way they kept fighting, particularly in the second half; they truly deserved to win tonight. I believe our week-long hard training and motivation also contributed towards this win. They were really up for this one; you could see it in their eyes before the kickoff.

After 3-0, we relaxed and enjoyed the game. I don’t remember any player who hasn’t turned in a strong performance tonight. In comparison to our previous matches, we didn’t create too many chances, but we succeeded in converting the few chances we had. Fink’s goal was awesome. A text book goal from start to finish… This well-earned win not only closed the gap between us and Fenerbahçe but boosted our morale and confidence for our upcoming fixtures.”
