Beşiktaş 3, Galatasaray 0

Beşiktaş Men’s Volleyball rolled to a 3-0 win over the cross-town rival Galatasaray in a Week 6 matchup of the Turkish Aroma League.

After coming out on fire, the Black Eagles went on to build themselves an early cushion which was never really threatened in the opening set. As the match progressed, Siebeck and Barutov took advantage of Galatasaray’s poor blocking by converting setter Mustafa’s passes into a series of non-returnable kills to win the set 25-18 for Beşiktaş.
The visitors jumped out to a 4-2 lead early in the second, but the Black and White put together a string of service aces to enter the first technical timeout with an 8-5 edge. While Galatasaray struggled with costly defensive errors and inconsistent hitting, the Eagles extended their advantage to 16-11 at the second timeout. They then outscored their opponents 4-2 to push the lead up to 20-13. Galatasaray’s Coach Işık Menküer tried to close the gap by sending in Caner and İbrahim for Dehne and Kemal, but the Black and White held on, 25-23, to take a 2-0 lead in sets.
At the onset of the third set, the tide seemed to turn in favor of the visitors; as they outplayed a tired looking Beşiktaş side with effective serves to grab an 8-3 advantage going into the first technical timeout. However, Mustafa and Siebeck would then turn the match around with smoking serves of their own and put the Black Eagles back on top, 20-15. The Black and White took complete control in the remainder of the set to win it 25-20 and the match 3-0.
