Samsun Basket 60, Beşiktaş Cola Turka 63

The visiting Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball Squad squeezed out a 63-60 victory over the Samsun Belediye in a TBBL Week 4 game at Yasar Doğu Sports Hall.

The host team came out on fire and opened up an early lead with back-to-back jumpers from inside the arch. Before the Black and White ever had a chance to regroup, Samsun went on a 9-0 run to pull ahead 15-6 midway through the quarter. The Lady Eagles tried to catch up with outside shots but were unable to stop the host’s balanced scoring attack, trailing by six points, 22-16, at the end of first stanza.
The teams traded baskets to start the second frame, and the Ladies from the Black Sea maintained their lead at the halfway point, leading 30-23. From then on, the Black and White chipped away at the deficit with some key shooting by Dacic and Zellous and managed to creep within 2 points of Samsun at 31-29 heading into intermission.
After Naile İvegin opened the third quarter with a layup and tied the game at 31, Beşiktaş Cola Turka controlled the floor with a barrage of jumpers from Zellous and held a slim 43-42 advantage after three hard-fought quarters.
The final stanza was a real tight affair with the lead going back and forth. The Black Eagles tried to ride the hot-hand of Dacic to remain in front but had a hard time containing the duo of Gaither and Chaney. Samsun Basket tied the score at 55-55 on an Alyoshkina layup with 1:12 to play. Both teams battled point-for-point in the thrilling closing stages, but Beşiktaş Cola Turka prevailed in the end with a 63-60 victory.
