Beşiktaş 0 – Vfl Wolfsburg 3

The Black Eagles suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Wolfsburg in their 4th Champions League Group B match.

Wolfsburg started brightly, and after asserting their authority in midfield, piled on the early pressure by launching dangerous attacks down the flanks and peppering the Beşiktaş goal with stinging long-range shots. They got their reward through Misimovic after 14 minutes. Unable to control the midfield, Beşiktaş could not recover from the shock of the goal and were pinned in their own half for most of the first half. The Black and White finally came out of their shelves in the closing stages and had two good chances to equalize; but İbrahim Üzülmez and Serdar Özkan both squandered them nicely. Despite late Beşiktaş surge, the away team took the one-goal lead with them into the dressing room at the interval.
As an offensive move, the Black and White brought on Tello and Nobre for Serdar Özkan and Tabata in the second half and pressed for the equalizer; but the visitors defended well and kept them out. After Fink’s powerful shots went inches wide, Beşiktaş’s hopes began to fade as Wolfsburg added two more with Gentner (81) and Dzeko (87) to run out 3-0 winners.
