After his team’s 1-0 win against Ankaragücü, Beşiktaş Manager Mustafa Denizli assessed his players’ performance for the press:

“Ankaragücü is a formidable side to beat. They don’t give up until the final whistle. As you all know we’ve been playing back-to-back tough matches. It is not easy to deliver the same high- level performance game in and game out. We still managed to create a flurry of chances while restricting our opponent to few opportunities. And those chances came from our own defensive mistakes. Besides, if you are launching so many attacks, you are bound to leave some gaps at the back. Otherwise, we were very well organized defensively and kept the game in control from beginning to end. Had Ekrem and Tabata capitalized on their chances, we could’ve won by a bigger margin. But we are pleased with the outcome. We are getting closer to the top each week. Considering our so-called slow start to the season, the result counts more than performance at this stage.”
