Beşiktaş 1 – 0 Ankaragücü

A superb 16th minute goal from defender İsmail Köybaşı saw Beşiktaş overcome Ankaragücü at BJK İnönü Stadium on Matchday 11 of the Turkcell Super League.

The match was refereed by Halis Özkaya, and a large crowd of Beşiktaş fans braved the wet weather to cheer the Black Eagles on throughout the 90 minutes.
The Black Eagles entered the pitch carrying a banner which read, “We Are the Guardians of Turkish Republic.” In national anthem ceremony, they were joined by a group of Beşiktaş College students wearing Star and Crescent jerseys.
The Black and White came out of the gates very quickly and stamped their authority on the game by bombarding the visitors with free-flowing attacks from both flanks. The early pressure paid handsome dividends for the home side in the 16th minute when İsmail Köybaşı caught the Ankaragücü keeper Serkan wrong-footed with a 25-yard deflected shot off Elyasa to put Beşiktaş ahead. The Black Eagles would hold onto that lead going into half.
Manager Mustafa Denizli rang the changes in the second half, sending on Ekrem Dağ (46) and Tabata (57) for Nihat Kahveci and Tello to provide fresh legs in midfield. Keeping Ankaragücü forwards in check, the Eagles searched for an insurance goal but could not unlock the visitors’ stubborn defence. The match ended 1-0 in favor of Beşiktaş.
