Mersin Büyükşehir Bld. 92 - 89 Beşiktaş Cola Turka

In its second Turk Telekom International Cup game, Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball falls, 92-89, to Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi at Kadir Has Sports Hall.

After exchanging early buckets, the Black Eagles took control of the game with an aggressive defense and carried an eight-point, 27-19, lead into the second quarter.
The Black and White continued to outscore its opponent early in the second; as the margin grew to 10 points at 35-25 on a Haluk Yıldırım layup with 7:10 remaining on the clock. However, Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi did come back with a 10-0 run to tie the game at 35-35 midway through the quarter.  But, thanks to a number of quick layups by Baxter and Newley, Beşiktaş Cola Turka responded with a 12-0 run of its own to take an eight-point, 49-41 cushion into the locker room at the halftime intermission.
The Eagles managed to hold onto to their margin in the third, and except a short-lived rally triggered by Frahm, never allowed Mersin Büyükşehir get any closer, establishing a 72-63 lead on Adem Ören’s three-pointers after three quarters of play.
Mersin Büyükşehir tightened up its defense in the final frame and began to chop away at the deficit with a string of easy baskets by Baron and Frahm. After erasing the deficit on a 7-0 spurt, James Baron followed with a pair of free throws to pull his team ahead by one-point, 79-78, with less than 4:00 left. From that point onwards, Mersin Büyükşehir never looked back, on its way to a hard-fought 92-89 victory.
While James Baron scored a game-high 23 points for Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyesi, Brad Newley led Beşiktaş Cola Turka with 17 points.
