Beşiktaş Technical Director Mustafa Denizli reflected on his team’s 3-0 derby loss to Galatasaray:

“At this stage, we dropped 4 more points than we expected this season. When you look at our overall performance, we didn’t deserve to lose tonight. We created more chances than them but managed to waste all of them. Our defense also stood their ground and did not give them any serious scoring chances until the second goal. After that unexpected goal, we lost our game discipline. We have to turn the theory we have compiled in our trainings into practice in games like this. At times, we were successful in doing so, but we have to find a way to end our scoring drought. If we could get that equalizer on time, I am sure we would go ahead and win the match easily because we were in full control of the play. It would be almost impossible for them to get back into the game. Since Tello, coming from his country’s national games, was quite tired; I didn’t think of having him on our lineup tonight.
Now, we must forget this match and focus on our Champion’s League fixture against Manchester United. We will start getting ready as soon as we leave this place, because we haven’t got much time left until Tuesday.  The fans will definitely see a much better Beşiktaş on that day. It hurts more when you lose the derby games; but he score will not change the fact that we played much better than Galatasaray. No one should be alarmed; it is still a young season, and we have the means to erase this 9-point gap in coming weeks.”
