Backed by players from reserved team, Beşiktaş senior outfit suffered a 4-3 setback at BJK İnönü Stadium in a friendly match yesterday.
The Under-23s got off to a fast start and raced out to an early lead through Yiğit on 15 minutes. After getting a neat pass from Gökhan, he made a dazzling dash into the box and slipped the ball past keeper Hakan Arıkan to put his side a goal up. But the Black and White recovered quickly, as Beşiktaş’s new signing Tabata, making his debut for the Eagles, stepped up and leveled the score in the 24th minute following a give-and-go with Ekrem. Uğur (38) and Ernst (41) each had a one-on-one chance with the keeper late in the half to fire the Black and White ahead but managed to squander both of them. At the end of first 45 minutes, the teams were locked in a 1-1 tie.Under-23s came out flying in the second half and regained the lead on a pair of consecutive goals. Five minutes after Abdullah headed in a corner kick from the right flank at the 53rd minute mark; Zeki made it 3-1 for the visitors with a hard drive inside the box. Ömer’s well placed curve cut the deficit to one for the Black Eagles in the 83rd minute; but Tunay would reinstate the Under-23s’ two-goal advantage two minutes later. Beşiktaş’s final goal came from young Onur Bayramoğlu in stoppage time; but it was too little and too late, as the visitors ran out 4-3 victors.
