After Beşiktaş’s goalless draw against Gençlerbirliği, our Technical Director Mustafa Denizli shared his thoughts with the press:

“If you want to win a tight game, you have to put in extra effort and capitalize on whatever chances you get. Although not too many, we had our chances in this game but somehow managed to squander all of them. While our goal scorers were having trouble finding the net, our playmakers had a tough time to create enough chances for us. All in all, we weren’t very productive offensively tonight.  We must also find a way to break up opponent’s counterattacks before they develop anything serious. When your stars do not step up and stage their individual skills, you end up displaying a mediocre performance. Whether it is a home or away game, I am sure we will soon recover these missing points. I congratulate our opponent Gençlerbirliği on their brilliant effort; they’ve deserved this praise because they’d fought hard not to lose this match.
In this game, we had Fink, Ernst and Uğur. These players are very good shooters; but unfortunately they couldn’t. We also did not make a good use of the flanks. So we didn’t look at our best out there tonight.”
