After Beşiktaş’s 2-0 win over Antalyaspor, our Technical Director Mustafa Denizli commented on his team’s performance:

“In addition to our missing players, playing our season opener at İnönü Stadium without any fans was a real set back for us. I can’t say that we’ve started the season on right foot. But it is a sure thing that playing in front of empty stands has affected our performance negatively tonight, because we regard our fans as our 12th man on the pitch, especially on our home ground. Besides, battling behind closed doors is not much fun to watch. I have a feeling that if we had our fans behind us in this match, we could’ve broken the game open much earlier. In any case, we had our chances and should’ve scored more goals; but poor finishes prevented us from increasing the tally. Nevertheless, under the circumstances, getting three points out of this game has not been easy task; so we have to be satisfied with tonight’s result.”
