On Turkish Super League Matchday 2, Beşiktaş down Antalyaspor 2-0 at BJK İnönü Stadium with second half goals from Holosko (73) and Tello (78). The game was played behind doors due to a one-game ban Beşiktaş received last season for unruly fan behavior.
The match with no spectators was refereed by İlker Meral.Black Eagles wore jerseys that wrote “Turkish Red Crescent” on their back.
Before the kickoff, all the players and officials lined up at the center of the pitch to pay tribute to those Turkish citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake of August 17th 1999 by observing a one-minute silence.
The Black and White launched several threatening attacks on visitors’ net in the first half but never found the net; as the teams went into the locker rooms scoreless.
The opening minutes of the second half were mostly a see-saw battle in midfield with neither side able to break down the other’s defense. But soon after Uğur İnceman and Holosko entered the game for Fink and Nobre, Beşiktaş began to dominate with fluid passing and confident play, leading to a 1-0 advantage in the 73rd minute. Following a series of neat passes, Holosko fired one in from close range to break the deadlock. Five minutes later, Tello added an insurance goal with a perfect free-kick from 20 yards out that beat the goalkeeper and found the lower corner of the net. Midfielder Serdar Özkan with a pair of fresh legs came in for Nihat Kahveci at the 79th-minute mark to help the Black and White secure the three points. Both side failed to change the scoreboard during the remaining minutes; as the Black Eagles sailed to a convincing 2-0 home victory.
