Bülent Karslıoğlu, the Head Coach of Beşiktaş Women’s Volleyball, took some time off from his team’s preseason preparations to give us the latest on the Black and White to our website:

“I am quite pleased with the recent additions to our team. Thanks to them, we’ll be able to field a much younger and stronger side on the court this season. This young and talented squad is giving us great hope for the future. We are definitely aiming at a higher place than last year. That’s why we are training twice a day these days.  
Our first goal is to win the Balkan Cup once again. As you will all recall, we finished first in this prestigious tournament last season, which was being organized for the first time ever. This year, we want to retain our title and make a good start into the new season. Most probably, due to their national teams’ international matches, our foreign players will not be able to participate in this year’s Balkan Cup; so we will have to play the tournament with our Turkish players. But it would be a real treat, if we could grab the cup solely with them.  To repeat last season’s success without our foreign stars will also boost team morale and build our.  
 
With a number of new additions to our roster, we’ve not only strengthened our team but put together younger and more ambitious side which is eager to accomplish great things for us. By lowering our team’s age, we now can make long term plans and hopefully build a contender in coming years.
This talented side has already captured the emotion, intensity and atmosphere of a college team. Despite a real tiring tempo no one is complaining, and everybody is anxiously waiting for the start of the league. I am sure we will be sitting in a much better place this season than that of the previous year, and continue to fly the Black and White flag high on the international volleyball arena.
