After the Black Eagles’ game against Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediye, our Technical Director Mustafa Denizlia reflected on his team’s performance:  

“Tonight, we faced a formidable opponent which we always had trouble stopping. If you are playing them, you need to show consistency for 90 minutes with a killer instinct. If you cannot score against them from a couple of yards out, you find yourself in a deep hole. That’s exactly what happened tonight; all our close-range headers and shots either went directly to the keeper or missed the target by inches. Any team squandering that many chances due to poor finishing has to settle for this result as good enough. In addition to all these, apart from brief spells, we could impose our authority on the match in a consistent way. 
In tonight’s game, we were missing half of our last year’s starting lineup. Players like Rüstü, Ekrem, İbrahim Toraman and Delgado always perform at a high level for 90 minutes. Without that kind of hard work and consistency; it is not easy to win. Tonight, we had an almost brand new team out there. We will play around with our lineup until we find the right squad for us. This will take a few weeks; but you will see a better Beşiktaş on the pitch every week. If we capitalized on our chances, we could’ve won this match comfortably.
Our veteran player Nihat is not in his top shape right now but will be ready in a couple of weeks. In line with a carefully thought-out program, we are gradually building his fitness. We do not want to push him too hard; because a quickened program may result in the recurrence of his previous injury. All he needs is time.”
