Matteo Ferrari, our new transfer from Genoa of Italian Serie A, has arrived in Istanbul together with President Yıldırım Demirören.
The private plane carrying Beşiktaş President Yıldırım Demirören, Board Member in Charge of Basketball Branch Mr. Şeref Yalçın and Beşiktaş’ new star Matteo Ferrari landed at Florya General Aviation Terminal last night.A boisterous Beşiktaş crowd was there to greet Ferrari. Matteo made a short address to our website: “I am thrilled to be here. Playing for Beşiktaş is going to be a brand new experience for me; but it is also going to be challenging one, because Beşiktaş is a double cup holder in this country. This shows how good they are. In order not to disappoint anyone, I must give all I’ve got on the pitch. On the other hand, it also excites me because I will get a chance to play in the Champions League. We are going to work day and night to be successful out there.”
When asked about fans’ greeting, “It made a doping impact on me, it is hard to find such fan support anywhere in Europe,” replied Matteo.
Who is Matteo Ferrari?
Born in Aflou of Algiers on December 5, 1979, Matteo Ferrari started his football career at SPAL. Because of his outstanding skills, he got transferred to world famous FC. Internazionale of Milano City in 1996, where he would stay until the end of 2000 season. During this period, the Algerian origin star played on loan for Lecce, Bari and Parma of Italian First Division Serie A. In 2002, he was signed by Parma before joining Roma in 2004. During 2005-2006 season, he was sent to Everton of English Premier League on loan. He returned to Genoa in 2008.
During the years between 2004 and 2009, Matteo Ferrari has earned 21 international caps with the Italian National Team. Since 1996, he starred in 245 official games. The 1.83 m tall defensive player played 33 games for Genoa of Italy last season.
