In a chat with the press before the training at BJK Nevzat Demir Sports Facilities Besiktas Technical Director Mustafa quoted:
“We are starting the new season with two titles to our name and it’s not going to be easy to retain them. We have added some new faces to our team but so did our rivals. This means that we have to work harder than last year. We are also negotiating with some new names but nothing has been finalized yet. Besiktas is a financially strong team so if a need for a new transfer arises, we go out and make it happen immediately just like in the past. But so far I am satisfied with our current roster. If a player wants leave us, we will not stop him.”When asked about Besiktas’s Champion League expectations, Mustafa Denizli replied:
“It is not going to easy because we are going top compete against formidable teams studded with proven international stars. Their yearly budgets often exceeds hundred of million euros. Some times the value of their one player equals our entire team. We know the task confronting us is daunting, but if we work beyond our capacity and punch beyond our weight, as sometimes we have done in the past, no one can stop us. Our first aim is to qualify from the group. After that we will review our plans and take the appropriate measures for the future.”
