In the aftermath of Beşiktaş’s 4-1 away win againts Ankaraspor, our Technical Director Mustafa Denizli commented on his team’s performance:

“We’ve finally moved into first place in the standings. As you have all seen in recent weeks, any team can beat any body on any given day in this race regardless of its place in the table. Of course, we have no intention of giving up the advantage we gained today; but as I said before, we still have to be cautious because the race is not over yet. Up until few hours ago, we have been chasing the leader; from now on, however, everybody is going to chase us. But believe me, it is not easy to be a leader at this late in the season, because everybody will come after you. Nevertheless, after all those weeks of hard work, it is quite pleasing to see ourselves leading the league today; and we’ll do everything in our power to maintain our current position till the end of the season.

Despite our difficult schedule, I am confidant my team will hold onto their advantage and lift that league championship cup three weeks from today.”
