Galatasaray Cafe Crown 111 - 94 Beşiktaş Cola Turka

Visiting Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball suffers a 111-94 loss at the hands of archrival Galatasaray in a Week 27 game of the Beko Turkish Basketball League.

Both teams put out a strong offensive performance early in the opening quarter; but neither side managed to gain the upper hand. While the host team got some key baskets from Quinton Hosley and Lamar Tolliver, Beşiktaş Cola Turka relied mostly on the outside shooting of Mire Chatman and Jimmy Baxter. Despite a 12-12 tie at the halfway point, Galatasaray Cafe Crown took command with a barrage of three-pointers later on and built a comfortable 29-17 cushion by the end of the first stanza.

Thanks to Cüneyt Erden’s hot hand, the strong outside shooting of the home team continued in the second; as the gap between the two crosstown rivals began to grow. Unable to keep up with the hot shooting Galatasaray, the Black and White trailed 44-28 midway through the quarter. The yellow and red withstood a late charge by Mire Chatman and Jimmy Baxter and went into the locker room leading 63-44 at the halftime intermission.

After Mehmet Yağmur sank two free-throws to start the second half, Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball caught fire in the third behind a string of unanswered threes and pulled to within 9 points at 67-58 in a span of three minutes. Then, the Black and White tightened up on defense and prevented its opponent from getting a clean look at the basket. Not getting anything going offensively, Galatasaray Cafe Crown watched its lead dwindle to 5 points, 67-62, entering the final 5:00. While the yellow and red desperately searched for a way out of its shooting slump, Mehmet Yağmur knifed through for a layup to cut the deficit to 2 at 67-65 with 4:40 left and force a Galatasaray timeout. But that was the closest Beşiktaş Cola Turka could get to its archrival, because consecutive jumpers by Hüseyin Beşok and Hosley with under 4:00 remaining brought to deficit back to 6 points, 71-65. The host team regained the lost momentum in the dying minutes and found itself sitting on a 9-point, 80-71, cushion heading into final quarter of play.

After the hot-shooting Lamar Tolliver opened the fourth with a layup, Galatasaray Cafe Crown took advantage of a series of unforced Black and White turnovers and pushed its advantage back to fourteen points at 85-17 only two minutes into the final frame. Beşiktaş Cola Turka tried to clamp down defensively, but the yellow and red team found its shooting stroke and was up 64-84 at the halfway mark. From that point on, the teams swapped baskets for the rest of the quarter; however, staked to a comfortable double-digit lead, the home side would never let the Black and White creep back within striking distance on its way to a convincing 111-94 win.
