Kocaelispor:1 Beşiktaş:3

Our Men’s Football Squad visited Kocaelispor at İzmit İsmet Paşa Stadium on Turkcell Super League Matchday 27 and came away with a 3-1 victory.

The Black and White got off to a sluggish start in this must-win away match and fell behind 1-0 early on; as Kocaelişspor’s Nigerian forward Agbetu scored off his team’s first shot of the night from outside the box with only 2:10 gone. Beşiktaş kept on probing for the equalizer after the early goal but struggled to get into a good offensive rhythm for most of the first 45 minutes. Meanwhile, during a couple of counterattacks, the Black and White left the back door open; luckily, the host team’s forwards failed to take advantage of them. Despite heavy Beşiktaş pressure late in the half, Kocaelispor managed to maintain their slender one-goal advantage at the break.
The Black and White brought on Holosko and Uğur İnceman for Cisse and Erkan Zengin in the second half and pinned their hosts deep in their own half.  However, Beşiktaş had to wait until the 75th minute to equalize because goalkeeper Serdar Kulbilge kept pulling off save after save to preserve the home side’s lead. Nevertheless, Kocaelispor defender Sadigov handled İbrahim Üzülmez’s cross inside the box after 75 minutes; and the Black and White were awarded a penalty-kick. Zapotocny converted the penalty shot and brought the teams back on level terms. Spurred by the equalizer, the players of the Black and White had the game in complete control the rest of the way and went on in search for the winner. Four minutes from regulation time, Bobo ended Beşiktaş’s misery and unleashed a superb right-footed shot from the penalty-kick area to put Beşiktaş ahead, 2-1. Yusuf Şimşek wrapped up the scoring on 89 minutes, when he found the back of the net with a low drive off Holosko’s brilliant pass; as the Black and White picked up another valuable 3 points in their quest for the League title.
