Men’s Handball Reach Semifinals

By squeezing out a 26-23 victory over Montenegro representative HC Buducnost Podgorica at BJK Süleyman Seba Sports Hall in the second leg of Challenge Cup Quarterfinals, Beşiktaş advanced to semifinals stage and made Turkish handball history.

Having lost the first leg 27-25 last week, the Black and White got off to an uncharacteristically slow start and fell behind, 4-0, after the first three minutes. But Beşiktaş would soon recover and come back to tie the score at 6 on a superb goal by Ramazan. Nevertheless, the visitors managed to hold a slim 13-12 lead at the half.  
Perunicic, the top scorer of Buducnost got injured in the early minutes of the second half and the Black and White took advantage of it. Thanks to a string of goals by Zlic and Ramazan, Beşiktaş eventually gained control and sailed to a 3-goal, 26-23 victory, enough to qualify for the semifinals.Our Board Members Kenan Özer, Levent Erdoğan, Ertunç Soğancıoğlu, Bülent Deriş and Nedim Sarsmaz were among the jubilant  Beşiktaş Fans.
