Beşiktaş:3 Gençlerbirliği:0

Our Men’s Football trounced visiting Gençlerbirliği 3-0 at BJK Inönü Stadium on Matchday 24 of the Turkcell Super League with second-half goals from Ernst, Ekrem and Holosko.

Turkish President Abdullah Gül was among the spectators; and the fans greeted him with a welcoming banner. Meanwhile, the Black and White stepped on the field with their own banner that read “BJK College Celebrates Beşiktaş’s 106th Anniversary.”
Beşiktaş got off to a flying start and came close to scoring as early as the 30th second, but Bobo wasted a golden opportunity to pull his team ahead. Then, backed by the thunderous cheering of their fans, the Black and White settled in opponent’s half of the pitch and applied pressure from both flanks for an early lead. Relying solely on counterattacks, the visitors managed to come out of their shelves only 20 minutes into the game. Despite the pressure, Beşiktaş failed to score, and the teams headed into their locker rooms locked in a goalless tie at the half

Gençlerbirliği pushed forward more in the second half, but the Black and White brought on Yusuf Şimşek and Holosko for Delgado and Bobo to regain control. Mustafa Denizli’s tactic appeared to pay off; as the German International Ernst put Beşiktaş a goal up in the 64th minute with a brilliant finish, his first in Turkish Super League. While the visitors were trying to recover from the shock of the goal, the Black and White could’ve added a couple of more, but a series of superb saves by goalkeeper Isailovic and Gençlerbirliği’s luck kept them at bay. However, Beşiktaş retained control of the game thereafter and started probing away at the visitors’ defense in search of an insurance goal. But the Black and White had to wait until the Ekrem’s 88th-minute goal to double their lead. Ekrem’s hard drive from outside the box was his first for Beşiktaş. As a stunned Gençlerbirliği defense looked on, Holosko sealed the scoring two minutes later to give the Black and White a 3-0 win for the night.
