Tarsus Belediye 73, Beşiktaş Cola Turka 79

Our Beşiktaş visiting Cola Turka Women’s Basketball pulled out a 79-73 victory over Tarsus Belediye on the road in a Week 19 game of the League.

The Lady Black and White got off to a fast start and jumped out an early 6-2 lead on back-to-back buckets. But Tarsus Belediye responded with Ilsu Darıcığlu’s three-pointer to crawl within 6-5 and stay close. Then the game turned into a seesaw affair but with Liron Cohen teamed with Laura Ashley, Beşiktaş Cola Turka build a 26-18 cushion heading into second quarter.
After Naile İvegin buried a 18-footer to open the second, the Black and White took complete control and pushed its lead to 30-20 three minutes into quarter. The host team, Tarsus Belediye sought to erase the deficit by tightening up on defense but still trailed 43-31 at the half.
Tarsus Belediye got its act together in the second half; as Barbara Turner and Tatum Brown combined to reel off 11 unanswered points over the first two and a half minutes to bring the host within 1 at 43-42. Beşiktaş Cola Turka tried to regroup and extend its lead back up to double digits on consecutive layups by Tuğba Taşcı and Anna De Forge, but Jessica Davenport and Barbara Turner nailed a string of jumpers to give Tarsus Belediye a 48-47 lead with 2:45 left. The game went back and forth in dying minutes and the revitalized hosts carried a 58-55 edge into final quarter.
The teams traded baskets to open the fourth and Beşiktaş Cola Turka fought back to tie the game at 61 after two minutes. However, Tarsus Belediye would soon put together a 6-0 run for a 67-61 lead at the halfway point. Nevertheless, the Lady Black and White refused to give in, as Gergena Bronzova Erdenay capped a late Beşiktaş rally with a three-pointer to level the score once again. With 2:30 remaining, the score was locked at 67-67.  The final moments saw the lead exchange hands several times, but the Black and White managed to walk away with a 79-73 win in the end.
