In the aftermath of Beşiktaş’s 2-1 victory over Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor, our Technical Director Mustafa Denizli evaluated the Black and White’s performace:

"Beşiktaş had not beaten their opponent in previous league matchups. Coming into the game, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy for us. They have a good track record against league contenders. But we managed to put forth a strong effort down the stretch and walk away with crucial three points. Scoring three headers—including the offside goal—against a defense which is usually dominant in the air must be regarded a serious accomplishment. But we had believed in this victory.
We are in top shape physically, and we’ve proved it in this game once again. We usually take complete control after the first hour and increase our pressure to score. Most defenses often crack under this kind of pressure and that’s what happened here tonight. Our sheer desire to win keeps us going all the way. I thank all our fans who did not leave us alone in this cold weather tonight; they played a major role in our victory."
