Beşiktaş Management Exonerated

At the end of the Beşiktaş General Ordinary Meeting held at Lutfi Kırdar Convention Exhibition Center for 2008, the current Club Management was exonerated from any administrative and financial liabilities with a majority vote. President Demirören took the floor to address to members in the final part.

After Secretary General Mr. Kenan Öner’s opening speech, Ertunç Soğancıoğlu, Vice-President in Charge of Financial Affairs disclosed 2008 balance sheet information with a slide show.
Greeted with warm applause, Beşiktaş President Yıldırım Demirören thanked attending club members for showing deep interest in the meeting and added:
‘‘First of all, I would like thank our President Abdullah Gül who took time off from his busy schedule to attend the ribbon- cutting ceremonies of BJK Fulya Sports Facilities last week. He showed us that the love of Beşiktaş matters more than anything else in this world. My thanks also go out to our Honorary President Süleyman Seba, who initiated the facilities.
We take pride in bringing the said project; which has been going on for many years, to a successful conclusion. We are not upset at all about the ongoing lawsuits filed against us regarding this matter; because, the project belongs to all Beşiktaş supporters. And if there is any wrongdoing, we will act swiftly to remedy it. We are completely transparent and work hard to make sure that Beşiktaş win no matter what happens. Our administration’s number-one priority has always been to safeguard the interests of our one and only Beşiktaş.
Unfortunately, during recent years, some members of our community have made a habit of not only criticizing us but our Honorary President Süleyman Seba as well. The same critics have often come out against changes required for improvement and tried everything to keep our club in dark ages for sheer personal reasons.
They also pay no attention to the fact that the project is the only one of its kind in Turkey and will be our main source of income for many years. If they want to defend the rights of Beşiktaş, they should stand by us, not against us.
During dire economic times, Beşiktaş have mainly relied on own resources and avoided expensive transfers. But the case of young Aydın Karabulut is an exception; because he refused to go to Bursaspor to gain experience. If a young player does not follow our orders, we have no other choice but let him go. No one should worry, because we have many other Aydıns here at Beşiktaş, who are waiting to serve our club.
We will not revise our ongoing youth program, which we believe constitutes the future of Beşiktaş, just because of an extraordinary case. We strongly advise our critics to hear our side of the story before they jump into any kind of conclusion; we will keep our doors open for them 24 hours a day. Let’s not forget, if we stand united like a family, we can overcome our most difficult challenges. But we must be careful not to use Beşiktaş as a vehicle for our personal advertisement. The history will not forgive those who put their own interests ahead of Beşiktaş’s.’’

Following the President’s speech Beşiktaş management and auditing commission was each exonerated from all liabilities by majority of votes.
Our Club’s overall budget for 2009 was announced as being YTL 124 million.
While Beşiktaş Foundation’s budget was set at YTL 34 million, Beşiktaş Football Investments Inc. had a budget of YTL 90 million.
In the meantime, Beşiktaş’s total debt was estimated to be YTL 129 million. The Club owed YTL 50 million to President Yıldırım Demirören.
