After Beşiktaş’s 3-1 Cup victory over Antalyaspor, our Technical Director Mustafa Denizli made these comments:

‘‘I’d like to draw your attention to the fact that this team has won 6 in a row in Fortis Turkish Cup; and this is in no small achievement

Since we were holding a two-goal advantage from the first leg, we didn’t have to win this game. We could have relaxed and played a low-level game; but the opposite and my players stepped up to display a good attacking football for all to see.

We are excited to be in the semifinals, and it doesn’t matter who we play with; because we’re focused on ourselves and what we can control. If we play our game the way we’re supposed to play it, everything will come together for us. Now our aim is to play the final match.”

When asked about new signing Fabian Ernst, Denizli added: ‘‘He was lacking some practice and had a couple of tiring days; but he still wanted to play, so I put up on the starting lineup. He was a little excited at the beginning but managed to recover quickly because he is a real professional, that’s why we have included him in our squad. I have no doubt as season moves along you will admire and respect him more.’’

In regard to Beşiktaş’s other newcomer Erkan Zengin, “Erkan is young player with a high technical skills. He is also an extremely accurate shooter who can shoot from all ranges. But, like my other players, he has to compete with his teammates and work hard if he wants a place for himself on the starting lineup.” said Denizli.
