After Beşiktaş’s 1-0 home win against Denizlispor, our Technical Director Mustafa Denizli made these comments regarding the Black and White’s performance:

‘‘In tonight’s game, we created fewer chances than our previous games but still managed to take an early lead that took the pressure off our shoulders. Nevertheless, we played cautious football rest of the way, because a one-goal lead doesn’t mean much in football. We struggled well and didn’t concede a goal. Tonight, I give credit to our defense; they truly deserved. We wasted couple of clear-cut opportunities, but that’s something new. We’ll learn to convert them, as the season progresses.

By tonight’s win, we managed to leave just one team ahead of us to be considered whose points are significantly higher than ours. We have got closer within 2 points to one of the other competitors. This week, all top 4 contenders placed ahead of us are scheduled to play each other; and they will definitely drop some points at the end of their matches; and this valuable win will enable us to get closer to them.

It was certainly not an easy game; but we managed to maintain our team discipline until the final whistle and created enough chances to win comfortably. In short, we deserved to win’’
