In their 4th and final Fortis Turkish Cup Group A match up, which was refereed by Koray Gençerler, visiting Beşiktaş squeezed out a 1-0 win over Gaziantepspor at Kamil Ocak Stadium to assure qualification for the next round with a first place finish on a 74th minute goal by Nobre.
The first half was played mostly in midfield with neither team getting a clear-cut chance to score; as it ended in a goalless draw.The home squad, Gaziantepspor, looked more committed to attack in the second half; but our goalie, Hakan Arıkan, produced some brilliant saves and kept them at bay. Then, during a fast Beşiktaş counterattack, Holosko found unmarked Nobre inside the box, who flicked the ball into the net to give the Black and White a one-goal lead in the 74th minute. Beşiktaş brought on Ekrem Dağ, Zapotocny and Seriç for Uğur İnceman, Holosko and Serdar Özkan late in the game for defensive measures. However, with nine minutes remaining in regulation time, Gökhan Zan received his second yellow card and the Black and White had to continue shorthanded.
Gaziantepspor pressed hard for the equalizer in the final minutes; but Beşiktaş held its ground and walked away with a 1-0 victory.
The Black and White won all four games of the Fortis Cup and advanced to quarter final stage of the competition with a total of 12 points at the top of Group A.
