Following Beşiktaş’s 3-1 Fortis Cup vin over Gaziantep Bş. Bld., our Technical Director Mustafa Denizli underscored the importance of the victory:

‘‘Cup ties are always difficult to play, because you can never predict the outcome beforehand; and anybody can beat anybody. Since the history of Turkish Cup is full of major upsets, we should be satisfied with tonight’s result. 
We needed this game to book our ticket to quarter finals in advance of the final round of group games. Actually, by looking at our opponents’ remaining games, even a tie would be satisfactory; but would not guarantee the next round and we didn’t want to risk anything. In terms of our overall performance, I think our offense looked real sharp out there. The game also turned out to be a good test for our upcoming league matches.’’
