Visiting Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball took on crosstown rivals at Kadiköy, Caferağa Sports Hall on Matchday 10 of the TBBL and posted a 112-105 double-overtime victory.
The league leaders Fenerbahçe started the hot and jumped out to a 12-6 lead midway through the opening frame. The Lady Black and White tried to trim the deficit and managed to pull within 20-18 by the end of the first. Beşiktaş Cola Turka got the rhythm going in the second and was able to tie the score at the halfway mark. The remainder of the quarter turned into a seesaw affair with the lead changing hands several times; however, the Lady Black and White would cling to a one- point, 29-28, edge at halftime. The teams traded baskets for most of the third quarter, but the hot-shooting Doron teamed up with Harper and Naile to give Beşiktaş Cola Turka a 66-61 lead after three quarters of play. Thanks to a streak of unanswered points by Nevriye Yılmaz and Sutton, Beşiktaş Cola Turka evened the score at 78-78 Brown in the dying seconds and forced the overtime period.
After Tuğba drilled a three-pointer from the top of the key to start the overtime, Doron made back-to-back layups to keep the Black and White safely ahead. But Fenerbahçe Acıbadem refused to go away and brought the deficit down to 2 points on Nevriye’s jumpers entering the final minute. Entering the excitement-filled final minute, Dobovic made a pair of layups for Beşiktaş Cola Turka to rebuild the lead to 4 points; however, Fenerbahce Acıbadem would get two clutch baskets from Sutton Brown and Esmeral in the dying seconds to even up the score once again--this time at 96-96--and take the game into second overtime.
The Lady Black and White opened the second overtime with back-to-took buckets by Tuğba and Harper; and played aggressive defense to prevent its host from getting inside. Forced to outside shots, Fenerbahçe went scoreless for nearly 2:30. While the home team struggled offensively, Beşiktaş Cola Turka connected on a barrage of three-pointer in the closing stages to sail to a well-earned 112-105 victory.
