Mustafa Denizli’s Post-Game Comments

Right after the Galatasaray game, our Techinal Director Mustafa Denizli talked to the press:

‘‘There were a lot of breaking points in this game. But the one that strikes me most is the first penalty-kick decision, which interrupted our momentum dramatically and changed the course of the game suddenly. We also did not move the ball well during our counter-attacks and got pushed off the ball too easily. Now, we have reached a stage in which we cannot afford to drop any more points. Although, we could all use some moral support in these days, my championship aspirations have not faded away at all. We will see how great this team is in the second half of the season. We all have to wait until the 26th or 27th weeks of the league, when this race will be decided more or less. Fans have to be patient and trust my years of experience and knowledge on this matter. It is not easy to assign your team as the champion in a half season.  Let’s not forget, we will play most of our contenders at home.
Tonight, we did not deserve to lose with 2 goal difference. We created a flurry of clear-cut chances but unfortunately could not convert them—something we seriously have to work on during upcoming winter-break. The break will also give us an opportunity to take a closer look at our team and get a couple of good defense players if we can find them. I will discuss this better with our management. If we can’t transfer any more players, I will dig deep into our rooster and come up with a couple reliable players. Despite of recent losses, one thing is certain:  everyone will watch much improved Beşiktaş in the second part of the league.
Seric is a player of Beşiktaş and deserves a decent playing time like the rest of our team. When I spot a player in good form, I have to let him play; and that’s what I did tonight.’’
