Right after Beşiktaş’s 1-0 victory over Ankaragücü, our Technical Director Mustafa Denizli talked to the press:

‘‘Regardless of whether you were a club administrator, technical staff, player or fan, it was a difficult match for everyone. Due to their current position in the standings, it was a difficult match for Ankaragücü as well. However, since we could not afford to drop any more points, we had to win at all costs. After their long-range shoots early on, we took control of the tempo and created numerous chances to score. Considering the unfortunate events of the past two weeks, this is not something you can easily achieve as a team under pressure. This was definitely one of our most crucial games of the season. But the pendulum has swung our way for a change, and we’ve ended up with those precious 3 points. We’ve also moved within 3 points of the league leader. Last week, every Beşiktaş fan was disappointed with our performance; but this week, it is a completely different story. Compared to our previous game, we looked much better and deserved to win. I want to reiterate that all my players are doing their best for staging a good performance out there. We needed this win to lift ourselves and our fans.  If we continue to play as hard as we did today, we can win most of our games. Now, we are looking forward to our next league game.’’
