Right after Beşiktaş’s 3-1 home loss to Ankaraspor, our Technical Director Mustafa Denizli made the following comments regarding the game:

‘‘I have to admit we did not execute well in most departments tonight. Ankaraspor managed to exploit some of our weak points in the right place at the right time. Our performance was undoubtedly the worst since I took over. We had dropped points in some of our previous games as well, but we never played this poorly in any one of them. I am truly disappointed with tonight’s result; nonetheless, as the standings will show, we are still right up there with the other contenders, regardless of tonight’s loss. Every team will have its ups and downs during this long league marathon. But, at this early stage, our fans should not get affected by these scores and lose their faith in us. They should bear in mind that without their support, we cannot achieve anything because they are our strongest weapon in this race. We would like see them standing right behind us win or lose.
We created some clear-cut chances to turn the game in our favor but unfortunately could not convert them. We have to finish off our chances with more precision – something we’ve been working hard to improve since my first day at the club. As an experienced coach, I am quite familiar with these types of situations in which a top contender loses back-to-back matches. Therefore, our fans should not worry at all, because we are in complete control; and we will take all the necessary steps to compensate for all the losses we suffered recently in our future games. Besides, our current place in the standings supports our view that there is no need for alarm. I am confidant we will bounce back from this temporary difficult period quickly and get back on the right track. We want everyone know that our title hopes have not diminished one bit.
 
We will immediately start working on our features that need to be fixed; and all our fans will see the difference in a couple of weeks.
Delgado is really upset about his poor performance tonight; but we should all help him recover soon, because, as team captain, he is one of my key players on the pitch. Without a continuous strong performance from him, it is difficult to win games.   
 We will start making up for this unexpected loss by winning our next league game. Mark my words, at the end of the season, we when we are lifting the championship cup, we will remember these comments.’’
