Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball visited Botaş on matchday-5 of the TBBL and crushed its opponent 89-74.
The teams traded baskets in the early going; but the Lady Black and White managed to take a one-point, 6-5, edge after the two minutes. From that point on, Botaş fell into a scoring drought and Laura Harper pushed Beşiktaş’s lead to 10-5 midway through the quarter. However, as the game progressed, Angela Tisdale and Pelin would team up to put together a late spurt for the hosts to give Botaş a slim 16-15 lead at the end of the opening quarter.The score stayed tight throughout the second and the teams had to turn to their benches frequently. Melek Bilge nailed a jumper to start the quarter; but Marcedes Walker answered right back with a lay-up and restored Botaş’s slight advantage. The ladies of Adana City went on to stretch the margin to 25-20 on a string of unanswered points; but the Black and White battled back with Alexis and Milica Dabovic to tie the game at 25-25 at the halfway mark. Then, Gülşah drilled another three-pointer for Botaş, only to see Beşiktaş Cola Turka hit back with a three of its own and level the score once again. The game went back and forth until the dying seconds; but the Black and White clung to a 40-38 edge entering the halftime break.
After Shay Doron opened the second half with a jumper, Naile İvegin unleashed a pair of three-pointers and extended the Black and White’s advantage to 10 points at 48-38. Facing a tightened Beşiktaş defense, Botaş was unable to get a clean shot at the outset and scored its first basket only midway through the quarter on Gamze Takmaz’s driving layup. Then Angela fired a three-pointer and trimmed the deficit to 6 points. But the Black and White refused to get caught and rallied with back-to-back buckets to take a 15-point, 68-53 cushion into the final period of play.
The home team sought desperately to climb within striking distance in the fourth; but Beşiktaş Cola Turka played tenacious defense and did not allow Botaş to get closer. Meanwhile, the Black and White continued to pour it in from all angles and the gap ballooned to 57-79 with 6:35 remaining on the clock. Then Adana City ladies made a final attempt to get back into game and narrowed the margin to 67-79 with a 10-0 run. But Beşiktaş Cola Turka survived down the stretch to pull away from Botaş to a comfortable 74-89 victory.
