Our Football Team edge Trabzonspor, 2-1, in their second Fortis Turkish Cup Group A game with goals from Bobo (33) and Zapotocny (90+1).
The match took place at Trabzon, Hüseyin Avni Eker Stadium and was refereed by Bünyamin Gezer. While long-time injured Gökhan Zan captained Beşiktaş for the first time this season, early minutes of the game were mainly played out in midfield with neither side gaining the upper hand. As the half wore on, the host team mounted a couple of dangerous attacks, but Hakan Arıkan pulled off some brilliant saves to deny Trabzonspor the opening goal in the first 45 minutes. The game remained scoreless until the 33rd minute when Bobo rebounded Uğur İnceman’s shot that was deflected off goalkeeper Sylva and buried it home with a nifty touch to put Beşiktaş up 1-0. The Black and White would carry that one-goal lead into intermission.
At start of the second half, Beşiktaş brought on Serdar Kurtuluş for Seric to strengthen their defense, but Trabzonspor got back on level terms following a 55th-minute goal by Egemen. After Mustafa Denizli replaced Uğur İnceman and Ekrem Dağ with Holosko and Aydın Karbulut, Beşiktaş looked much livelier up front. And in injury time, Zapotocny put the Black and White in front, 2-1, for good with a perfectly- timed header. The win moved Beşiktaş atop the Group A with 6 points from 2 matches.
