Our boys in Black and White were held to a 1-1 draw by the visiting Sivasspor at BJK İnönü Stadium on Day-8 of the Turkcell Super League.
In his debut as Beşiktaş’s new Technical Director, Mustafa Denizli received a warm welcome from the thousands of fans who packed the stands to cheer their favorite team on.Both teams tried to play attacking football right from the opening kickoff. Although the Black and White created the first clear cut chance of the match, it was the visiting side that drew the first blood. After Mehmet Yıldız’s 4th minute goal, Beşiktaş kept up the pressure and managed to equalize with Delgado’s superb finish in the 13th minute. Following these early goals, teams tightened up on defense, as the game drifted into a midfield struggle. Nonetheless, the Black and White had enough chances to go ahead, but their attacks failed to materialize into anything. At the end of the first 45 minutes, teams were locked in a 1-1 tie.
In most of second half, Beşiktaş pinned the visitors from Sivas City deep in their own field; however, they came up empty-handed on all occasions. Thinking that their hosts were getting tired, Sivasspor bolstered their front line by bringing on couple of forwards, but the Black and White looked in complete control and snuffed out the visitors’ attacks with ease. Since neither team managed to change the scoreboard in the closing stages, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
