Beşiktaş Cola Turka:90 Kepez Bld.:76

Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball hosted Kepez Belediyesi in its 2008-9 season opener at Cola Turka Arena and walked away with a well-deserved 90-76 victory.

After Adem Ören drilled a 3-pointer to open the scoring for Beşiktaş, the Black and White took control and led 13-8 midway through the quarter.  Then Muratcan Güler teamed up with Marcus V. Faison and Jovo Stanojeviç to widen the margin to 21-14 entering second quarter.
The visiting Kepez Belediyesi came out firing in the second and managed to tie the score at 23-23 with a string of unanswered points. But the trio of Marcus, Muratcan and Mehmet Yağmur started hitting from all angles and kept Beşiktaş Cola safely ahead throughout the quarter. Despite a late Kepez rally, the Black and White clung stubbornly to a 3-point, 41-38, lead heading into locker room at the break.
Jovo knocked down a jumper to start the second half and then the Black and White went on to build a 10-point, 54-44 cushion in the first 5 minutes, en route a 67-59 third- quarter lead.
Beşiktaş Cola Turka continued its dominant play in the fourth and was up 76-71 at the halfway mark.  The visitors made a last ditch-effort to climb back within striking distance of their hosts, but Muratcan Güler and Marcus V. Faison reeled off back-to-back baskets to lift the Black and White to a convincing 90-76 win over Kepez Belediyesi.
Muratcan Güler finished the game with 18 points, followed by Mehmet Yağmur and Marcus V. Faison who each chipped in 15. Jovo Stanojeviç (14), Mario Austin (14), Adem Ören (7), Haluk Yıldırım (3) Cevher Özer (2) and Mire De Juan Chatman (2) also contributed to the Black and White’s offensive effort.
