Beşiktaş’s new Technical Director Mustafa Denizli made these comments to the press after his first official game against Gençlerbirliği:

“In our first game together, this score may sound sufficient for an away game, but we played like true Beşiktaş only a short period time. Therefore, regardless of what my players think, I am not totally satisfied with our performance on the pitch today. Since it will not be that easy to win our future games with this level of performance, we have to find some new ways to improve our play out there. Nevertheless, we got off to an excellent start and managed to score 3 goals within a span of 15 minutes. Quite an accomplishment in an away game… But then we started wasting our energy and lost control during certain stages of the game. It was a crucial game for us, because Gençlerbirliği had always been a tough team in this league. It’s always nice to pocket 3 points with 3 quick goals, especially, if you are playing an away game. However, we must take some measures against our poor passing. Maybe it was due to the poor pitch conditions, but if we were a little bit careful in our final passes, we definitely could’ve scored more goals. In short, I appreciate the football we’ve played in some periods of time but I am not satisfied with our overall performance.”
