Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball Team suffers a 79-49 loss to Bourges Basket from France in its Euroleague Group-A opening match.

Despite falling behind early, the Lady Black and Whites eventually shook off their sluggish start and managed to pull ahead with 29 seconds showing on the clock to take a slim 12-11 edge entering the second quarter.

After Bourges hit a jumper to start the second, Beşiktaş remained within striking distance most of the quarter and tried to prevent its opponent from pulling away. Nevertheless, the French host knocked down back-to-back buckets in the dying minutes and widened its lead to 34-29 before heading into the locker room at the break.

Beşiktaş Cola Turka opened the second half with Shay Doron’s basket and pulled back within 3, but as the quarter progressed, its defense begun to fall apart thanks to poor rebounding and sloppy play. The Black and White trailed 56-40 after three quarters of play and never got any closer.

The host team forced Beşiktaş into costly turnovers and stretched its lead even further in the final quarter to walk away with a comfortable 79-49 victory.
