In a statement made to our web site, Hakan Demir, the new Head Coach of Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball Team said, ‘‘We want to set up a Black and White  team that always aims at the top spot.’’ 

After reminding us that Beşiktaş let the League and ULEB Cup titles got away from them at the 11th hour last season, Hakan Demir revealed the team management raised the stakes this year. ‘‘We signed some well known players from Europe this year. With the addition of a couple of players, we will put together a team everybody will talk about many years to come.’’
Praising Beşiktaş Management’s efforts to establish a first-class team, our new coach continued, ‘‘Our goal in the Turkish League is already known. We will not only try to finish the regular season atop the standings like we did last year but lift the championship cup at the end of the playoffs. Everybody remembers how we missed the ULEB Cup’s Final-4 last season. Our main goal in Europe this year is to take part in the Final-8 and then take it from there step by step. But we hope to end up in a much better place than we were last year, so we strengthened our roster with some quality players.’’
In Hakan Demir’s words, Beşiktaş Cola Turka will begin training on August 1st with its Turkish players and the team’s foreign players will join them at a later date.
