After Beşiktaş’s 2-1 away win over Rizespor our Technical Director Ertuğrul Sağlam made these comments regarding the match:

“Everyone underestimates our chances in this race. But we are only 6 points behind the leaders and they will all play each other. Any one of these teams may drop 7 points a long the way. However, we are only concentrating on getting a ticket for the Champions League. If we ever squander this chance, we will go after the UEFA Cup. Since we could not afford to lose any more points, we had to win this match no matter what happened. We played as hard as we could out there, and apart from their lone goal, we managed to keep them at bay and did not give away any more chances. We could have won by a wider margin, but we wasted 4-5 clear chances in the first half. Now, we must win our next game against Bursaspor to stay in the race.”

Meanwhile, our General Manager Sinan Engin also commented on the game. “We lost too many close games this season. But we want to break our bad luck by winning our next there matches. We intend to stay in this race until the final whistle, because from now on, anything may happen in this 3-point system. But we must win our remaining games. We could’ve blown the game open, but unfortunately, we wasted too many chances in the first half,” said Sinan Engin.
