TTNet Beykoz 75 – 86 Beşiktaş Cola Turka

Our Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball Team visited local rival TTNet Beykoz at R.Şahin Köktürk Sports Hall in Week 29 of the Beko Basketball League and cruised to a 86-75 victory.

The Black and White got off to a fast start and raced out to an early lead by knocking down consecutive threes. But the host Beykoz eventually stiffened its defense to prevent the visitors from penetrating inside and fought its way back into the game with outside shots. Thanks to contributions from Roberson, the black and yellow home side went ahead 15-14 midway through quarter to take their first lead in the game. Nonetheless, a late 5-0 run gave Beşiktaş Cola Turka a 25-19 edge by the end of the opening quarter.

Beykoz opened the second quarter with a dunk by Curtis and then trimmed the deficit to 1 point on Chris’s 3-pointer. From that point on, the Black and White created too many unforced turnovers and put the game on the line. Meanwhile, Beykoz settled for outside shots and remained within striking distance. Beşiktaş Cola Turka was clinging to a narrow 3-point, 33-30 lead with 3:00 remaining in the quarter. But our boys in Black and White found their offensive rhythm in the closing minutes and put together a late rally to build a 43-35 cushion before heading into the locker room at the intermission.

The host Beykoz pushed hard at the start of the second half and managed to pull within 3 point on back-to-back buckets. But the comeback attempt of the black and yellow would not last long because Beşiktaş Cola Turka took advantage of its opponent’s defensive errors and began to stretch the margin once again with a string of unanswered points by Shumpert and Kaya Peker. Then Shumpert gave his team some more breathing room by drilling consecutive threes that put the Black and White ahead, 61-48, with 2:00 left on the clock. Beşiktaş Cola Turka tightened up on defense in the dying minutes and kept its opponent away from the basket, forcing the home side to take outside shots. But this time, the black and yellow missed most of their shots and unable to close the gap, trailed 65-55 after three quarters of play.

Early in the fourth, the home squad desperately tried to get back into the game, but our Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball Team refused to get caught and maintained control with fast-break points. The Black and White withstood a number of Beykoz comebacks a long the way and held onto healthy lead midway through the final quarter. But the relentless home side eventually broke down Beşiktaş defense and managed to trim the deficit to 7 points with 3:00 minutes left to play. Nevertheless, the Black and White responded with a late rally and came way with a well-earned 86-75 victory.
