Fenerbahçe Ülker 75 – 68 Beşiktaş Cola Turka

Our Beşiktaş Cola Turka falls to Fenerbahçe Ülker 75-68 at Abdi İpekçi Sports hall in Week 27 of the Beko Basketball League.

The visiting Black and White took control from the opening tip and jumped out an early 8-0 lead in the first 2:30 of the contest. Playing solid defense, the hot-shooting Beşiktaş Cola Turka kept their city rivals away from the basket and went on to pull ahead 17-12 by the end of the first quarter.
Fenerbahçe Ülker tightened up on defense in the second and got back into the game with a string of consecutive baskets. Missing shot after shot, Beşiktaş Cola Turka had trouble finding its offensive rhythm and had to settle for a 21-21 tie midway through the quarter. Then the game turned into a seesaw affair rest of the way with the lead changing hands several times, but the yellow and dark blue team managed to carry a 30-28 edge into the locker room at the break.
Brian Chase nailed a 3-pointer to open the second half and put the Black and White back on top 31-30. But due to Nicevic’s 4th foul, Beşiktaş Cola Turka started to get out-rebounded on the glass and was still trailing 41-37 at the halfway mark. Then a barrage of threes gave Fenerbahçe- Ülker a 51-46 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
Following Shumpert’s short jumper, Drobnjak knifed through for a lay-up at the start of the fourth, bringing Beşiktaş Cola Turka within 51-50. From that point on, the teams traded baskets once again until Nicevic tied the score at 54 with a reverse lay-up. Then Mehmet Yağmur drained a fall-away from the corner to put the Black and White up 56-54 with 7:00 remaining in the game. Unable to get anything form inside, Fenerbahçe-Ülker turned to outside shots and managed to climb back on top, 63-56 midway through the quarter. Kaya Peker and Shumpert kept the Black and White within striking distance with clutch threes, but Beşiktaş Cola Turka could not find a way to stop the hot-shooting Fenebahçe forwards. The home side withstood a late charge to escape with a hard-fought 75-68 victory.
Since Beşiktaş Cola Turka won the first league game 84-61 at Akatlar Arena, the teams will start the series holding a 1-1 tie in a possible playoff match-up.
