Following Beşiktaş’s brilliant away victory over the formidable Sivasspor, our Technical Director Ertuğrul Sağlam claimed his team would finish the season atop the table.

“This win definitely boosted our morale and helped us get back into the race. I would like draw everybody’s attention to the reminder of the schedule. If you look carefully, you will see that all our rivals will play against each other and some of them will definitely drop points along the way. Contrary to everyone’s expectations, we may move up in the standings at the end of season. Right now, all we have to do is win our remaining games and wait for other results.
Today, we were missing some key players, but all our players played as hard as they could. In the second half, we created clear cut chances to increase the margin to 5 or 6 but could finish them off. Despite that last second goal, we managed to win and that’s what counts.
I think we were as sharp as we could have been out there and did not repeat our usual defensive mistakes. We also managed to keep them at bay throughout most of the game. This is definitely a big improvement on our part. I am pleased with our overall performance.”
