Beşiktaş Cola Turka hosted Antalya Büyükşehir Belediyesi at Akatlar Cola Turka Arena in Week 26 of the Beko Basketball League and coasted to an 86-71 victory.
The Black and Whites started hot and jumped out to an early lead, but Antalya Büyükşehir fought back with back-to-back lay-ups and remained within striking distance. Then Marsh’s jumper knotted the score at 9-9 with 6:00 remaining. While Dalmau enjoyed another productive outing, the defensive woes prevented Beşiktaş Cola Turka from pulling away from their visitors early on. But the Black and Whites eventually managed to tighten the reins on defense and began to turn the game towards their favor with outside shots. Then Shumpert and Drobjnak came off bench to give Beşiktaş Cola Turka a 28-15 cushion by the end of the opening quarter.The Black and Whites did not take their foot off the pedal in the second and went on to outscore their opponents 9-2 in the first 3 minutes to increase their margin even further. Dominating the glass at both ends, they built their advantage to 20-points at 40-20 behind a barrage of unanswered points with 3:00 to go in the second quarter. Despite a late Antalya rally, Beşiktaş Cola Turka took a 42-27 lead into the locker room at the intermission.
After trading baskets to start the second half, the southern representatives slowly began to chip away at the deficit on a string of fast-break points. Then Beşiktaş Cola Turka went into a scoring draught and saw its lead cut to 9 points with 4:00 to play in the third. But Sinan Güler and Drobjnak teamed up to push the cushion back to 11 points at 66-55 to close out the quarter.
The Black and Whites opened the fourth with Drobjnak’s lay-up and never looked back. The visitors tried to claw their way back into game by playing catch-up but could not overcome the solid Beşiktaş Cola Turka defense. Then Apodaca sparked a mid-quarter rally to put the game out of reach. After rolling up a comfortable lead, the Black and Whites took their foot of the gas pedal in the dying minutes to sail to an 86-71 victory.
Shumpert and Drobjnak led the Black and Whites with 19 points each while Dalmau (14), Sinan Güler (12), Apodaca (9), Nicevic (6), Erkan (4), Mehmet Yağmur (2) and Kaya Peker (1) also contributed to offensive effort of Beşiktaş Cola Turka.
