Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball falls to Burhaniye Belediyesi, 77-76, in its final regular season game.
The Lady Black and Whites visited Burhaniye Belediyesi in Week 22 of the TBBL to end regular season.After Beşiktaş Cola Turka opened the scoring on a 3-pointer by Nilay, the teams traded baskets for the remainder of the first, but Zanze and Lovelace helped spark a late spurt that gave the Black and Whites a 27-22 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Beşiktaş Cola Turka opened the second quarter again with a three, this time by Esra Özden and extended the margin to 13 points midway through the quarter on consecutive baskets. The home side tried desperately to claw its way back into the game, but the Black and Whites held their ground and finished with a late run to build a 49-33 cushion at the break.
The Lady Black and Whites carried their momentum into the second half and stretched their lead to 18 points, 60-42, halfway through the third quarter. But Burhaniye Belediyesi suddenly got hot, as it slowly began to chip away at the deficit and managed to pull within 64-55 going into final period of play.
The home team continued to outscore Beşiktaş Cola Turka in the fourth and trimmed the margin to 2 points with 5 minutes remaining in the game. The Black and Whites tried to regain control with jumpers by Nazlı Güler and Lovelace but committed too many turnovers along the way. While Beşiktaş Cola Turka faltered down the stretch, Burhan Belediyesi came back to tie the game at 69-69 with 3:27 to go. And then they went on to take a 71-69 lead, their first since the opening quarter, on a short jumper with 2:38 left to play. The Lady Black and Whites made a last-ditch effort to save the game, but their run fell short and the host Burhaniye Belediyesi managed to squeeze out a one-point, 77-76, win.
