Kepez Bld.: 62 - Beşiktaş Cola Turka: 62

Our visiting Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball Team hangs on to top Kepez Belediyesi, 66-62, at Antalya Dilek Sabancı Sports Hall in Beko Basketball League week 25.

After Shumpert nailed a short jumper to open the scoring, the game turned into a seesaw affair, but our Black and Whites managed to take a slim 8-7 lead midway through the quarter. Then Kaya Peker, Sinan Güler and Nicevic teamed up to give Beşiktaş Cola Turka a 21-14 edge to close out the first quarter.
The home team staged a furious come back early in the second and began to chip away at the deficit. Despite Kaya Peker’s valiant efforts, the Black and Whites were unable to fend off Kepez Belediyesi and found themselves trailing 28-27 with 4 minutes to go in the quarter. Then the teams traded baskets rest of the way, but the home side was clinging to a 42-38 lead at the half.
Kepez Belediyesi carried its momentum into the third quarter and extended the margin to 9 points at 47-38, in a span of 3 minutes. But Beşiktaş Cola Turka refused to surrender and battled back to erase the deficit with back-to-back buckets by Drobjnak, Sinan Güler and Kaya Peker. Then Sinan Güler hit a jumper to put them back on top, 50-49, with 2:33 left to play. Beşiktaş Cola Turka kept pouring it on during the remaining minutes and pushed its lead to 56-51 by the end of the quarter.
After our new transfer Chase drilled a three to open the fourth, the Black and Whites went on a scoring drought and couldn’t increase their lead. But they were still up 61-57 at the halfway mark. Beşiktaş Cola Turka withstood every shot from its host down the stretch and then put together a late spurt to pull off a hard-fought 66-62 victory.
