The Head Coach of Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball Team, Mr. Aziz Akkaya and our players Dilek Ünüvar and Şaziye Karslı made these comments following Beşiktaş’s well-earned derby win that ended league-leading Fenerbahçe’s undefeated streak. 

Aziz Akkaya: “Despite the absence of Phondexter, Fenerbahçe has got lot of other talented players in its roster. But tonight we were determined to win regardless of who played against us. We committed a number of mistakes during the game but managed to overcome them. It turned out to be a tough battle for both teams. The winning side was not decided until the final minute of the game. Every time Fenerbahçe tried to pull away from us, we managed to come back with clutch shots and remained within striking distance throughout the game. I am delighted that we finally managed to put an end to their undefeated streak. But I have to admit, we were really fired up for this game. I dedicate this valuable win to all our fans out there. They should keep believing in us because we’ve got many goals to achieve.”
Dilek Ünüvar: “We’d been getting ready for this game whole week. We tried to execute our coach’s game plan as well as we could. I am extremely pleased that we managed to win in the end. We thank all our fans who came out to support us tonight.”
Şaziye Karslı: “I think it was an exciting game for both sides. We stuck to our game plan until the final buzzer. We showed everybody what we were made of in that crucial final minute. We thank all our fans who didn’t leave us alone out there tonight.”
