Beşiktaş:59 – Galatasaray: 83

Our Wheelchair Basketball Team suffered a 83-59 defeat at the hands of traditional rival Galatasaray at BJK Süleyman Seba Sports Hall in the Week 6 of the League.

The visiting Galatasaray jumped out an early lead behind a string of unanswered jumpers while our team scored its first point from a free throw by Aytaç. Despite getting open looks Beşiktaş came away empty handed each time and had trouble finding its usual offensive rhythm in the early going. Meanwhile, Galatasaray made a number of easy lay-ups in the lane and raced out to a 13-5 lead midway through the quarter. The Black and Whites tried to rally back with fast breaks but created a series of costly turnovers along the way. Hitting nothing but the iron, our team trailed 20-11 by the end of the opening quarter.
After taking control of the game with an impressive outing by Haidari, the yellow and red team turned to an aggressive defense but committed too many fouls. However, the Black and Whites were also having an off day of shooting free throws, as they wasted a golden opportunity to get back into game. Galatasaray took advantage of this situation and built a 26-16 cushion at halfway mark of the second quarter. Despite a late Beşiktaş rally, the visitors managed to extend their lead to 42-28 at the end of the first half.
The yellow and reds continued to play aggressive defense in the third and prevented our team from scoring anything. Özgür, Eveson and Tucek teamed up to dominate under the boards, as they opened up a sizeable 72-45 margin entering the final quarter.
Our Black and Whites could not find a way to put together an effective rally to trim the deficit down the stretch and watched their traditional rivals steal the show with an 83-59 victory.
